This shot and yesterday's post are a prime example of how a photo can convey a mood and impression that's quite different from the reality. Both were taken during a small-town Halloween celebration, when the local firehouse is opened for games and the fire trucks and police cars parked outside, lights on, to add to the festivities. But they work for me because of the eerie air of emergency they convey.

You are right about the mood. I like the way the light reflects from the cars parked along the street, with the reflections popping out of the darkness.
